We are seeking reviews from website visitors to help us to improve the We Care You Care website moving forward.

ADASS Activity Survey 2021

The ADASS Activity Survey was conducted by the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) and was sent to every Director of Adult Social Services (Directors). The survey was completed between April and June by 147 (97%) of the 152 principal councils in England responsible for adult social services. 

This particular report focuses on five key activities delivered and overseen by local authorities.

RCBCs Short Breaks for Disabled Children Framework

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council's Short Breaks for Disabled Children Framework has recently re-opened for new bids (see attached poster).  Providers who have experience in supporting and caring for children and young people with disabilities or additional needs are encouraged to apply to join.  To apply to join the Framework you would need to register on NEPO and submit a bid, all registered providers must have an overall rating of Good or above at the time of submission.

Breaks or Breakdown

Research released for Carers Week has found that carers lost, on average, 25 hours of support a month they previously had from services or family and friends before the pandemic.

72% of carers have not had any breaks from their caring role at all. Of those who got a break, a third (33%) used the time to complete practical tasks or housework, and a quarter (26%) to attend their own medical appointments.

We Need Care Too- Young Carers Stories (The Junction Foundation, June 2021)

The Junction Foundation received a small carers grant from Middlesbrough Council which they have used to raise the profile of young carers in Middlesbrough through a poster campaign. They have worked with a group of young carers to create a series of posters that showcase their individual caring journey.
