Our Campaigns: Helping Unpaid Carers

We run local campaigns to help people understand what unpaid carers do and why they are important. We also support big campaigns happening across the country. Campaigns help us to focus our communication's to target local audiences under a national focus.

We want to make sure carers are seen, heard, and get the help they need—at home, at work, and in the community. If you would like to get involved in helping to shape or contribute towards our local carers campaigns please contact us: hello@wecareyoucare.info

Take a look at campaigns we’ve done so far and see how we’re helping carers feel supported.

Two NHS staff with Carers Pledge poster

For Carers Week 2025, we launched our Carers Pledge to help more people support the campaign. Our goal was to raise as much awareness as possible about unpaid carers in Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland — and this was our biggest year yet!

Hundreds of people, schools, businesses, groups, and organisations signed up to the pledge.

As part of the campaign, we shared real stories from local carers and were even featured on BBC Radio Tees and ITV Tyne Tees News. We also put together a timetable of fun and helpful activities during the week and highlighted all the great local services that support carers in our area.

Carers Rights Day 2024

On Carers Rights Day 2024, we talked about the main rights that help keep carers safe and supported. We also worked with Teesside Mind's Advocacy Team to make a short video. It shows how advocacy services can help carers when things go wrong.

Here’s what we did during Carers Week 2024:

  • Worked with unpaid carers from across South Tees to help create our campaign messages.
  • Made and shared an animated video to help more people understand if they are carers and what support is available.
  • Teamed up with Teesside Mind and Healthwatch South Tees to write to all GP practices in the area. We asked them to learn more about unpaid carers and find ways to better support them.
  • Shared a full timetable of events happening during the week, run by local carers services.
  • Used our social media to help spread the word about unpaid carers and the support available locally.
