Carers Week 8 - 14 June 2026
Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don't think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.
This year's theme is Building Carer Friendly Communities.
A carer friendly community is a place, space or organisation that values carers and does something practical to support them by identifying carers, listening and responding to their experiences so that they are not left to cope alone. This includes the workplace, local communities, faith communities, GP practices, hospitals, local NHS neighbourhoods, pharmacies, schools, colleges and universities, businesses or online communities supporting unpaid carers.
How to get involved in South Tees
This Carers Week, we’re bringing back the South Tees Carers Pledge and inviting everyone to take part.
Whether you pledged before or this is your first time, you can show your support in just a few minutes. Whether you’re a carer yourself or supporting someone who is, you can take part.
By pledging, you’re choosing a simple action to support carers, whether that’s for yourself or someone else. It could be as simple as listening, raising awareness, or making your workplace more carer friendly.
