Creating a carer-friendly environment can help organisations keep experienced staff for longer, boost motivation and involvement at work, and foster a more inclusive and supportive workplace culture.

Carers Guide

The Carers Guide is for adults in Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland who are caring for a family member, partner, or friend due to illness, disability, mental health issues, old age, or substance use, and who rely on the support provided.

It contains everything you need to know about carers’ assessments, local carer support services, carers' rights, financial support and where to turn for further help.

Open Letter to Businesses and Organisations across South Tees

For Carers Rights Day (20 Nov 2025), we’ve written an open letter to employers across South Tees, urging them to recognise and support their unpaid carers at work.

Every day, 5,300 people in paid employment become carers and many struggle to balance work and caring. With the right support, everyone benefits: wellbeing improves, skills are retained, and workplaces thrive.
