New Service: Supporting local carers through grief and loss.

09 November 2021

Over the last few months, we have received several comments from local carers highlighting the challenges that come with the transition to 'ex carer'. We have plans to develop a specific page with information and advice for carers who are in the process of this transition which we hope to have available at the start of the New Year.

For some carers, the end of their caring role can be a positive experience, if their loved ones no longer need looking after or others step in to relieve them of their role. However, for many, it can make a significant loss whether that be bereavement or their loved one moving into a care home.

Carers Together have developed a 'Carers Grief and Loss Service' aimed to help you cope more effectively with the impact of loss or grief following a traumatic event. The Carers Grief and Loss Service can:

  • Provide a range of emotional support services tailored to your needs. This could include one to one counselling, regular calls and visits from their team or group support.
  • Help to reconnect you to the community and support you to access your chosen activities.
  • Provide somebody to listen to you and help with any practical issues you may have.

Carers Together are experienced in supporting carers through the emotional impact of grief and loss. They also have a team of experienced, qualified counsellors who can support you through regular one to one counselling sessions. You can access this service at any stage of your grief and loss experience. The service is free of charge.
