The Warm and Well Team is based at three sites - South Bank Baptist Church, Redcar Baptist Church and Redcar House of Worship. The team offers a friendly local support service which is practical and down to earth for people living across Redcar and Cleveland. The team can help with energy bills, meters, keeping your house warm, and finding the next right step when money is tight and things feel confusing, whether you need support yourself or are helping other people.
Gemma McPartland runs the project at South Bank Baptist Church, John Ufeoshi at Redcar Baptist Church and Jonathan Shave at Redcar House of Worship. Gemma, John and Jonathan can meet you either at the Church or they can come out to your home where they can talk to you about your energy bills and any financial worries that you have as a result of your energy costs.
They are able to offer you advice on heating your home, reducing your energy costs and support you with budgeting. They can help you look at switching to smart meters and changing your energy supplier by using comparison sites.
Bedding, electric blankets, draft excluders, letter box covers, foil behind your radiators, timers, hot water bottles, gloves, scarves, insulation film and emergency electric blankets are all on offer as part of the service.
They can also refer you for Better Housing Better Health vouchers, which are emergency fuel vouchers intended for households that are struggling to top up a pre-payment gas or electricity meter. They provide short term credit so that you can restore or maintain your energy supply. Better Housing Better Health can also assess you for energy debt support, bill discounts, the Priority Services Register, insulation or heating grants and other local support.
The Warm and Well Service can help with:
