Community Wellbeing Partnership offers local mental health support in Redcar and Cleveland

CWP team

03 November 2026

If you live in Redcar and Cleveland and need support with your mental health, you may be able to access a range of community-based services through Footprints in the Community’s Community Wellbeing Partnership (CWP). This support may also help if you have a family member or friend who could benefit from these services.

The partnership is part of the Community Mental Health Transformation programme and works alongside NHS services to give people more choice in the support they receive locally.

What support is available?

CWP helps people find support and activities that suit their individual needs. This can include practical help with everyday needs, such as accessing food and essential household items, as well as opportunities to connect with others through community activities.

Linking Routes is one of its main partners who deliver 1-1 counselling sessions for anyone with a mild to moderate mental health condition/issue. This can be accessed through the main referral route.

People can also access advice from Citizens Advice on issues such as benefits, housing and debt.

People who would benefit from wellbeing activities but face financial barriers may be eligible for funding to help cover the cost. If the partnership cannot provide the support someone needs directly, the team can help them find other suitable services and, where needed, accompany them to access that support.

Marij McLay, Community Wellbeing Partnership Manager, explains:

“Looking after your mental health is about more than finding the right support for your individual needs. Feeling connected to others, accessing practical help, taking part in activities you enjoy and having something positive to work towards can all make a real difference to your wellbeing.

Our Community Wellbeing Workers can support people to explore what matters to them and develop an individual action plan, helping them take positive steps towards achieving their goals. Everyone’s journey is different, and we want to help people find the right support and opportunities for them, within their own communities and close to home.”

How can you access support?

You can be referred to the partnership by a professional, such as your GP, a social prescriber, a community worker or another partner organisation.

You can also visit one of the regular drop-in sessions to speak to a Community Wellbeing Worker and also a care navigator from TEWV.

Footprints Community Café, 14 High Street, Redcar - every Tuesday, 10.30am–12.30pm.

Lingdale Tavern, Stanghow Road, Lingdale - every Monday, 11.30am -1.30pm

There’s no need to book. Just drop in for a chat.

What happens next?

Once your referral has been received, the Community Wellbeing Workers will look at your needs and decide what support may be suitable for you. If your referral is accepted, the wellbeing team at Footprints in the Community will work with you to help you access that support.

When you feel ready to move on from the service, the team will help you plan your next steps. If you still need support, they can continue working with you until you feel more confident and able to manage.
