Voices of Care
Local carers have always influenced the way we work from engagement with carers at events, from us visiting existing carers groups or consulting on specific topics. We want to make this more official and consistent by recruiting volunteers for our new steering group for We Care You Care.

The idea is to work alongside a range of volunteers with experience of unpaid care providing you with a voice in shaping our work and influencing how we approach topics/ engagement such as local carers campaigns.
Volunteers will also have opportunity to feed into the South Tees Carers Forum which is a collective group of professionals (and some carers) who drive forward the strategic plans for carers support across Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland.
We Care You Care
We Care You Care (WCYC) is a coordinated brand aimed to reach carers (whether known to services or not) to provide relevant, accessible information and support. MVDA is hosting this communication and campaigns project to complement the South Tees Carers Forum in line with the developments of the local carer’s strategy.
The project is jointly funded by Middlesbrough Council and Redcar and Cleveland Council and enables them to carry out their legal duty under Care Act 2014 by providing up-to-date, relevant information for carers so that they can make informed choices about their own care and support.
WCYC seeks to addresses barriers that many carers have in identifying themselves or being identified by local services and connecting to local support.
Commitment
There is no set time commitment for this role, we want carers to have a voice and we understand that the nature and demands of caring responsibilities can make it difficult to commit a set amount of time or to attend discussions physically etc. Therefore, how you get involved and how frequently is up to you. We will work with you to make sure you can get involved without adding pressure to yourself.
The Team
We are a small team of two; Kelly the Project Lead (photographed far left) and Melanie the Project Officer (photographed right).
We are both passionate about the work we do and are keen to have carers as the driving force of the project.
We would love to have you onboard!
