A new report from Carers UK has found that nearly half of unpaid carers in employment are considering reducing their hours or leaving work altogether due to the pressures of balancing work and caring responsibilities.

The report, 'The Tipping Point', highlights the vital role supportive employers can play in helping carers stay in work. Flexible working, understanding managers, carers’ policies and supportive workplace cultures can all make a significant difference to carers’ wellbeing and financial security.

One working carer quoted in the report said they felt they were “constantly firefighting” while trying to juggle work and caring responsibilities, reflecting the pressures many carers face every day.

We Care You Care believes that carer-friendly workplaces are essential in helping unpaid carers remain in employment while protecting their health and wellbeing. Small changes from employers can make a big difference.
