CVL are encouraging carers to connect

Community Ventures (Middlesbrough) Ltd (CVL) is a support hub based in the centre of Thorntree, Middlesbrough. They provide a base for other voluntary/support organisations to offer training, outreach activities, and wrap around specialist support; in addition to these, CVL provides grassroots job clubs, art groups, online activities, after-school clubs, learning projects, outdoor activities, volunteering, and other community-led activities.

The CVL team are encouraging local carers to connect to others in a welcoming environment, recognising the importance for carers to maintain social connections in a supportive space.

Deans Coffee and Catch up is on every Wednesday 12:30 pm – 2 pm

A safe space for carers to come along to talk to others in similar situations and have a bit of “me” time away from their caring duties in a relaxed, inclusive environment. These sessions are not exclusive carers sessions and are open activities, carers can attend with their loved ones. Calm CraftsJoin SenZory Art for this quiet, relaxing creative session.

This session has been tailored to provide a calming atmosphere. It’s a great way to improve mental health, self-esteem and reduce stress and meet new people. Community Ventures is a dementia-friendly organisation offering a safe place for carers and support workers to bring their patients and loved ones. This session is perfect for people to enjoy some quiet time whilst doing some arts and crafts. Every Thursday 10 am until 12 pm at CVL.

Galloway Gardensgreat session for people to be active whilst doing some gardening. 

CVL is working in partnership with housing provider Thirteen, Middlesbrough Council, MVDA and You’ve Got This to help local residents transform the communal land of Rainham Close in Thorntree. You don’t need to book an appointment, just pop along. Galloway Gardens is at Rainham Close, Thorntree, TS3 9HQ and is every Tuesday 10 am until 1 pm.

Job and Computer Club.

These sessions are not just about jobs, the team can help carers learn how to do online shopping, access the GP online services etc.

All clubs offer support with job search, applications, interview skills and CV’s and are delivered in a relaxed environment where you can enjoy a cuppa and receive information, advice and guidance. Every Wednesday 9:30 – 11:30
