Did you know that you're eligible for extra (and fully backdated!) Universal Credit payments if your child gets DLA or PIP?
Make sure to tell Universal Credit if your child is awarded DLA/PIP or has an existing award increased.
The Disabled Child Addition is paid at two rates: £132.89 per month for each child on DLA/PIP, or £414.88 if they get the highest rate of the DLA care component or PIP daily living component at the enhanced rate.
This will be automatically backdated: either to the date when your Universal Credit claim started or to when your child's DLA/PIP started (whichever is most recent).
Parent carers on Tax Credits also qualify for an extra disability element, but backdating is normally limited to 1 month. Find out why in Contact- for families with disabled children's FAQs.
