Unpaid carers are present in every community and workplace, yet many do not recognise themselves as carers or know where to turn for support. Our FREE training sessions are designed to help organisations and professionals identify unpaid carers, understand their challenges, and respond effectively.
Carer Awareness Session
A 60-minute session delivered in-person or online, tailored to suit your organisation.
This session is ideal for professionals working in health and social care, front-line and community-facing staff, and community and voluntary groups who regularly come into contact with members of the public who may not recognise themselves as carers and/or know how to access information and support.
This session aims to:
- Support staff in community-facing roles to recognise and engage with carers through their everyday work
- Build empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by unpaid carers
- Explain how to identify carers and the different types of caring roles
- Provide a clear overview of carers’ rights, including the Carer’s Leave Act, flexible working options, and protections under the Equality Act
- Highlight how and where to signpost carers to appropriate local support
Creating Carer-Friendly Workplaces Session
A 60 minute session delivered in-person or online, tailored to suit your organisation.
This session is ideal for HR teams and senior management looking to embed carer-friendly policies and foster a supportive, carer-friendly workplace culture
This session aims to:
- Provide a clearer understanding of who working carers are and why it’s important to support staff who care for someone outside the workplace.
- Offer insight into the business benefits of supporting working carers, as well as the legal responsibilities employers have towards them.
- Share practical ideas and best practice examples for actions you can take as an employer.
- Signpost to resources and tools readily available to help create a carer-friendly workplace.
Recognising Unpaid Carers in Safeguarding
A 60 minute session delivered in-person or online, tailored to suit your organisation
This session is ideal for safeguarding leads, health and social care professionals, front-line staff, and voluntary and community organisations who work with carers who may be involved in safeguarding situations.
This session aims to:
- Explain the roles, rights and support needs of unpaid carers
- Explore carers’ rights and the links between safeguarding and carers.
- Increase understanding around how to empower carers while protecting both them and the people they care for
