Young Carers Action Day, celebrated on 16th March 2022, is a nationwide event organised by the Carer's Trust aimed at raising awareness of the struggles and importance of young carers across the country

#YoungCarersActionDay 2022 is about Taking Action on Isolation. We will be working to make sure that all young and young adult carers get the support and access to services they need to live full and varied lives alongside their caring roles.

What is happening in the South Tees area?

The Junction Foundations Young Carers Service are working on a poster campaign to ensure visibility in key settings such as schools and GP surgeries. The campaign is being designed and led by local young carers.

Young Carers story

A local young person has shared their experiences of connecting to support from The Junction Foundation and Carers Together as they transitioned from being a young carer to a young adult carer. The Junction Foundation and Carers Together have been working on a project about how to better support Young Adult Carers (young people aged 16 to 25 years with a caring responsibility) in their successful transition to adulthood. The Mind the Gap Project, funded by NHS Improvement, Commitment to Carers Programme, worked with Young Adult Carers to identify what support would be needed to make a successful transition to adulthood and develop a Transitions Passport to better plan and communicate needs to a range of professionals.  This will result in the launch of 'Next Steps' Transitions Service from 1 April 2022 provided by Carers Together and The Junction in Partnership.
