What is Do It For You?
Do It For You is a new social media campaign we are running in partnership with You've Got This.
The campaign aims to encourage carers to do something for themselves every day, no matter how small, that will benefit their own mental and physical well-being.
Each week we will be posting resources, activities or exercises to keep carers active throughout lockdown.
We Care You Care has a dedicated page to physical health with lots of ideas of how carers can keep active at home.
Why is it needed?
Over the past few months, You've Got This has gathered insight's from carers highlighting how challenging it can be for them in being able to get outdoors to keep active during the current lockdown. This can be for a wide variety of reasons, they may be shielding or looking after a loved one who is shielding. They may struggle to find the time as caring responsibilities have increased with fewer opportunities to do things for themselves.
We know that carers are twice as likely to suffer from ill-health as non-carers and that more than half of those who provide more substantial care have suffered physical ill-health as a result of their caring role. The pandemic is putting more pressure on carers, affecting their physical and mental well-being. Therefore it is more important than ever for us all to support carers to take care of themselves.
